Content Moderation Policy
Last updated: 16 May 2026
Bluumme is a camera-only social application. This page describes how we keep the community safe — what we don't allow, what tools you have, and how fast we act on reports.
1. Standards
We don't allow content that:
- is illegal under German or applicable EU law;
- harasses, defames, or threatens a person or group;
- depicts or sexualises minors — these reports are escalated to authorities immediately under §§ 184b, 184c StGB;
- glorifies violence, self-harm, or suicide in a way that may encourage similar behaviour;
- promotes hate speech, racism, or discrimination on the basis of protected characteristics;
- contains nudity or sexual content;
- is spam, scams, impersonation, or other deceptive behaviour;
- violates third-party rights (copyright, trademarks, personality rights).
2. How users can act
Every account has the following moderation tools, available from any post or profile:
- Report a post — three-dot menu on any post → "Report Post" → choose a category: spam or misleading, harassment or bullying, nudity or sexual content, hate speech, or something else.
- Report a user — three-dot menu on a profile → "Report User" → same five categories.
- Block a user — three-dot menu on a profile → "Block". Blocking is bidirectional: blocked accounts cannot see your posts or follow you, and you do not see theirs.
- Manage blocks — Settings → Blocked Users → unblock at any time.
- Delete your account — Settings → Privacy → Delete Account. Removes your profile and posts; see our Privacy Policy for retention detail.
3. Pre-publication filters
- Profanity filter — captions and usernames containing universally recognised slurs (hate speech and severe sexual slurs across the six languages we ship) are blocked at submission. The list is intentionally narrow so mild profanity stays available.
- Camera-only enforcement — gallery uploads are not allowed for posts; every photo or video is captured live in the app and must be less than five minutes old (EXIF check) before publication.
- No filters — no effects, overlays, or post-production are available inside Bluumme; what the camera sees is what gets posted.
4. Response time
We commit to reviewing every report within 24 hours.
In practice the moderation queue triggers an internal notification to the operator on every new report (post or user), so most reports are handled within minutes during normal hours.
Outcomes can include:
- removal of the offending content;
- a warning, suspension, or permanent ban of the account;
- referral to law enforcement for content that endangers minors or otherwise violates criminal law;
- no action, if the report is unfounded.
5. EULA acceptance
Every account is required to accept these moderation rules, our Terms of Service, and our Privacy Policy at sign-up, before they can post or interact with content. Existing accounts re-accept when these terms materially change.
6. Transparency and appeals
If your content is removed or your account is restricted, you can email hello@bluumme.com to ask for an explanation or to appeal the decision. We aim to respond to appeals within five working days.
For users in the EU, you also retain your statutory rights under the Digital Services Act and may contact the competent supervisory authority.
