Account & Data Deletion
Last updated: 24 May 2026
This page explains how to request deletion of your Bluumme account and the personal data associated with it. Bluumme is operated by Emir Atay (Düsseldorf, Germany) — the developer named in the Google Play and App Store listings.
You can delete your account at any time, free of charge. There are two ways to do this.
Option 1 — Delete in the app (fastest)
If you can still sign in:
- Open the Bluumme app.
- Go to Profile → Settings → Account → Delete Account.
- Confirm the prompt.
Your account is then queued for permanent deletion. You will be signed out immediately and your profile will no longer be visible to other users.
Option 2 — Request deletion by email
If you can't sign in, or you prefer to ask us directly, send an email to hello@bluumme.com with:
- Subject:
Account deletion request - The email address or username associated with your Bluumme account
- A short confirmation sentence such as: "I request the deletion of my Bluumme account and the personal data associated with it."
We will verify that the request comes from the account holder (typically by replying from the registered email address) and then process the deletion. You will receive a confirmation email once the account has been removed.
We respond within 1–2 business days and complete deletion within 30 days at the latest, as required by Art. 17 GDPR.
Option 3 — Delete specific data without deleting your account
You do not have to delete your whole account in order to remove data. You can delete individual items at any time, while keeping your profile active:
- A post (photo or video) — open the post, tap the ⋯ menu → Delete post.
- A comment — long-press the comment → Delete.
- A like / save / follow — tap the action again to undo it.
- A block — open the blocked user's profile → Unblock.
- Your profile picture or bio — Profile → Edit Profile → clear the field and save.
- Location attached to a post — ⋯ menu on the post → Edit → Remove location.
- Push notification token — disable notifications in Profile → Settings → Notifications (or at the OS level).
If you want us to delete a specific category of data on your behalf — for example "delete all my posts but keep my account" or "delete my location history" — email hello@bluumme.com with:
- Subject:
Partial data deletion request - The email address or username of your Bluumme account
- A clear description of which data you want deleted (e.g. "all my posts", "my comments", "my location data", "my push token")
We will confirm the request from your registered email and complete the deletion within 30 days, in line with Art. 17 GDPR. Your account stays active.
What gets deleted
When your account is deleted, the following data is permanently removed from our live systems:
- Your profile (username, display name, profile picture, bio)
- Your posts (photos and videos you captured in-app), captions, and comments
- Your likes, saves, follows, and follower relationships
- Your weekly challenge entries, streaks, and ranking history
- Your reports, blocks, and notification tokens
- Your authentication record (email, hashed password, or linked Google / Apple identifier)
- Any optional location data attached to your posts
After live deletion, residual copies may remain in encrypted backups for up to 30 days, after which they are irrevocably overwritten.
What we may retain (and for how long)
A small amount of data is retained after deletion only where we are legally required to or where it is necessary to enforce safety:
| Data | Retention | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Records of legal or moderation actions taken against the account (e.g. a ban for a Terms violation) | Up to 3 years | Enforcement of our Terms of Service and Moderation Policy |
| Transactional logs (truncated IP, request timestamps) | Up to 90 days | Security, fraud prevention (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) |
| Records required by German or EU law (e.g. tax-relevant records, if any) | Statutory periods (typically 6–10 years under §§ 147 AO, 257 HGB) | Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR) |
These records do not include your photos, posts, profile, or any content you produced in the app — those are deleted as described above.
After deletion
- Your username is released and may become available to other users after a cooling-off period.
- Content you posted that was shared, screenshotted, or downloaded by other users outside the platform is, by nature, outside our control.
- If you sign up again later with the same email, a brand-new account is created — none of your previous data is restored.
Your other GDPR rights
Deletion is one of several rights you have under GDPR. You can also request access, correction, export, or restriction of your data. See our Privacy Policy — section 6 — or email hello@bluumme.com.
If you believe we have not handled your request correctly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority in North Rhine-Westphalia:
